With the HPP-25 Process Controller, BalTec is once again setting new standards in riveting process monitoring.
This is a further development of the STF-1 Expert process controller and the RC20A riveting machine controller.
The new process controller consists of a basic unit with several add-on modules. As an option, a powerful Windows PC tool is available for data logging, backup, riveting curve analysis and diagnostic capabilities such as online diagnosis of travel and pressure sensors. The modular concept permits the optimum adaption of the controller to the user’s requirements.
The process controller is operated easily and conveniently via a 5.7” color touchscreen. Six different parameters are available for controlling the riveting process using the very same software. Depending on the chosen control parameter, the riveting process is terminated on reaching the following set values:
Forming distance, riveting time, riveting force, total travel of the riveting spindle, closing head height or in response to an external signal. The HPP-25 Process Controller offers a choice of no less than 39 different riveting modes with different, monitored control values. Symmetrical or asymmetrical tolerance windows can be assigned to the monitored values.
Using the latest computer technology, we have been able to further perfect the rivet start detection compared with the STF-1 Expert process controller. 63 riveting programs can be saved and the rivet start is reliably detected after only 2 mm of form tool travel as well as at higher advance speeds. Faster process data processing permits the recording of riveting curves and their display on the monitor.
Further highlights of the HPP-25 include the following:
- All riveting data can be recorded by the integrated data logger and viewed, analyzed and exported using the touchscreen. Printing out the data of every single riveting process allows for continuously documented quality assurance.
- Data can be exported and imported via USB and Ethernet interfaces.
- Parameters and riveting programs can be uploaded and downloaded, e.g. for backup purposes and for simple installation of new controllers.
- The exportable error history allows the manufacturer to efficiently support the customer in localization and remedying of faults.
- PLC interface for simple communication with superordinate programmable logic controller
The HPP-25 housed in a sturdy sheet steel housing with front and back panels of die cast steel weighs 12 kg.
The use of this unique process controller offers solutions for the control of riveting processes, for evaluation and quality enhancement and for significant cost reductions in riveting technology that could otherwise not be achieved.
